#EléctricYerevan. Another Ukraine?

Few days ago we saw how people went to the streets in Yerevan capital city of Armenia, in response to a governmental decision to raise electricity rates to the Armenian people which was one of the motives for these protests which so far true that have been downplayed a little but could be part of another play by foreign actors against Russia, maybe trying to remake some scenario a la Ukraine which until now has been close to a fiasco specially in the eastern part of the country which has been fierce fully under the Defense and protection by the Kremlin. Armenia could be another part of this puzzle and mainly because this time as it is known, the Armenian lobby in Washington is one the biggest and wealthiest and pushing for a political change in the country and preventing it from falling further under the umbrella of the Eurasian Union which also as its known trying to court it to make it another member of this customs union led by Russia. And the most interesting thing of the underlying cause for these sudden p to tests is that the national electric company of Armenia is owned by Russia state owned energy holding Inter RAO which raises almost by 20% rates on electricity sparking massive protests by people in the Baghramyan avenue (another Maydan?) against the government of Mr Sarkisiyan.

This is why now Armenia is on the centre of Eurasian geopolitical chess and struggle between Russia and the West since Armenia is closer than ever to Moscow and for Washington this is a thing and specially for the Armenian lobbies which don't want a pro Russian Armenia. So a thing to observe and analyze is if this country represents much more importance than Ukraine to Moscow than Armenia to struggle for by the Kremlin against NATO and the West and if some other "maidan" will take over Armenia sometime sooner than expected.
