whats next for lebanon? oil wealth or balkan style future again?

Now that lebanon was poised to discover considerable amounts of oil fields and reserves specifically gas and having many ioc's participating in licensing processes with caretaker government (well its a shame lebanon can have every once in a while a functioning and lasting government) just as that brilliant moment was beginning, syrian affairs meddle again into lebanese future a big one though as it seems, and all that because the hezbollah decided to kinda take justice for its own and protect bashar government against the opposition (lets face it syrian internal affairs have nothing to do with lebanese internal dynamics but disgracefully always has to be in the middle of the iran usa syria and israel struggle for power of influence) and once again sectarianism of shia sunni threatens to destabilize the traditional quietness of lebanese society dreaming of a brilliant future now it knows has enough oil and gas reserves but i hope syrian instability wont overshadow lebanon growing presence in the energy international scene.. so what should we expect for the lebanese people a brilliant oiled future or a once again balkanized-bantustanized country which can only have "caretakers" as formal authorities to lead lebanon toward a better future...

  1. it's a great article , however i think the political situation in Syria won't overshadow Lebanon growing presence in the energy international scene , and we can take a look at Iraq , the country with unstable economy and many political issues and it has been through wars ,but still they have oil and gas investment opportunities, Iraq is still welcoming all international investors. and still seeks foreign funding and expertise to help it boost energy exports needed to pay for modernizing an economy stunted by years of conflict and sanctions. and companies from all over the world are very interested in funding there and exploring , i think its a great proof that life goes on and oil and gas is a great potential that isn't easily affected by any external factors.

  3. Hezbollah has a great role in whats happening i Syria , but is that gonna affect the oil and gas in Lebanon regarding all the political issues in many countries such as Iraq , Egypt and south Africa .
i think the future of oil and gas in Lebanon will change many things in Lebanon , and it will also be a reason of obtaining economic and political stability ,because since the Lebanese government has discovered these opportunities they started taking serious actions and they formed the National Petroleum Administration , so in my own point of view , i think the oil and gas discoveries will lead Lebanon to a promising future because it will be a great investment to improve the economy and i think the stabilized economy will play a role in improving and adjusting the political situation
