ROSNEFT as the next russian global energy player

It´s interesting how ROSNEFT is growing and its role globally is amazingly expanding, threatening to displace GAZPROM as the next energy player worldwide. And its worldwide, because not so long ago, ROSNEFT was only national, and a few years ago it started to go overseas, making alliances with EXXON-MOBIL on the Arctic, with CNPC, and being the almost sole player in Venezuela (on the Orinoco strip, the biggest heavy and extraheavy oil reservoir in the worldwide) alongside GAZPROM, buying the remaining stakes of SURGUTNEFTEGAZ, TNK-BP within the Russian National Petroleum Consortium in a joint venture with Venezuela´s National Oil Company PDVSA. Now ROSNEFT is the main speaker in terms of doing big business in venezuelan soil. And all this because ROSNEFT has the biggest Kremlin support, through Mr Sechin, one of the closest advisor of Mr Putin. Recently, in the past months, news for GAZPROM havent been so much positive as they were recent years ago, mainly because of declining natural gas imports from Europe, giving a hug leverage to ROSNEFT to become a tremendous player not only in the russian energy landscape, but internationally as well. It looks like as a power struggle between both companies to hold their prominence and links with russian government (GAZPROM has a strong relationship with the Kremlin as well), and specifically between both corporations leadership (we can say one represents the hardliners and the other one the softliners inside the russian power circles), ROSNEFT oil production and reserves are increasing, having an important share in overall russian crude oil production on a daily basis, and so on. It will be responsible for supplying oil to China markets in a long term, giving the company a strong position in Asia as well. So we can say that ROSNEFT will be the next global energy player courtesy of Russia.
